Happy Father’s Day…

These are just a few of my favorite pictures of Hubby with the girls… I’m so thankful for the relationship they have with their daddy!!

missing our man…

It’s been a rough couple of weeks around here.  Our main man has been working… a lot.  He works so hard to provide for our family and to run his business.  He is also very good about managing his time so that he’s not gone from us too much.  I think maybe it’s because he enjoys our company… or maybe it’s my cooking… or maybe it’s the comfy couch at home… whatever it is, I’m glad he makes us a priority.  But the past few weeks have been especially stressful and busy for him.  It always is with the end or the start of a new project or during bid season.

We’ve all missed him being home in the evenings.  SuperGirl came to me last week and said she hadn’t seen him in a few days.  I didn’t realize it but she had only seen him briefly in the morning before school and then was in bed long before he came home.  That was the night we met up for pizza.  She sat this like the whole time.

She walked alongside him and held his hand.  We sat outside on the bench and she was either in his lap or just standing in front of him.  She loves her dad.

When Hubs has to work late or on the weekends we fire up the Skype.  It’s nice to see his face.  And for some reason, Skype is just kind of fun.  Unless you’re in your jammies and you haven’t brushed your hair or washed your face.  That’s just a little hard for me.

As talkative as SuperGirl is, though, she doesn’t say much on Skype.  It’s like she doesn’t know what to do.  And Summer just stays away.  That’s also strange, because she loves being on video.  So Pickles sat down with him last night as she was heading to bed… just to say goodnight… and catch up a bit.

I am thankful this kind of busyness is just a seasonal thing with his job.  We do just fine when he is busy but boy, do we miss our man!!

>Lady Aggies Championship Game – he went!

After watching the Lady Aggies beat Baylor and Stanford, Hubby got the itch to go to the championship game. He called the house Monday afternoon and asked if I was interested in going. Boy howdy was I interested! But the kids had a lot going on and I just couldn’t find it within myself to leave town in a matter of hours and figure out how to get them to all the places they needed to go and get all the things done that they needed to get done.
My biggest concern was that Hubs wouldn’t go if I said no. I told him as much and he said he was going to ask his dad to go with him. Now if you haven’t met his dad, he is a HUGE Aggie fan. Taking a trip like this is not necessarily something he would do at the last minute and I know it thrilled him to death to go with his son.
My only request was that Hubby take a picture of himself and his dad at the game… and that he bring me a t-shirt. They flew in, stayed in a really nice hotel, went to yell practice at the team hotel, and arrived at the game early. The game proved to be all he hoped it would be… very exciting… lots of bad calls… and he sat across the aisle from the Notre Dame section.

Here’s the pic of our guys… taken by Oren Martin! It’s so fun to fun into people you know at these kinds of things!

And here’s the celebration!!!

No, no picture of my t-shirt. They sold out just as they got to the front of the line. No worries… I got my own first thing the next day.
Gig ’em!

>happy 42nd birthday, hubs!

What could be more appropriate than a 42 party for a man who is turning 42?  A SURPRISE 42 party for a man who is turning 42.  Planning this was so much fun.  He had no idea.  NO.IDEA.  Do you know how hard it is to get something past this guy?  Funny thing is, SuperGirl was surprised, too.  Nope.  We didn’t tell her a thing.  So it was kind of like getting two for one on the surprise!

As you can see, the theme was 42, as in the domino game.  I spent the whole week looking for these cheap wooden black and white dominoes to decorate the cupcakes with only to find out my mother had a set the whole time.  She’s so handy to have around!  We even found black and white polka dotted napkins to go along!  (I know Hubby really appreciated the polka dotted napkins, haha.)

I invited our whole Sunday school class, our parents, and Hubby’s aunt and uncle to meet us at a local restaurant for burgers and dominoes.  Turns out, this place isn’t very busy on Sunday afternoons so we had the place pretty much to ourselves.  And that is a good thing because the “SURPRISE” they yelled would have scared everyone else away.  Hubby was stunned.  Speechless.  It was great!

Everyone enjoyed burgers, cupcakes, fellowship, and some domino playing, which we haven’t done in 42 forevers.  I’m so thankful we have such sweet, fun friends and family who came out to celebrate the day with us.  Happy Birthday, Hubby!
