watercolor glue art

Standard

While reading through blogs yesterday I came across this post and thought it would be a fun project to do with SuperGirl.  We made a trip to Michaels to get supplies and while there we also got finger paints.  How fun is that?  She has really gotten into crafts lately and I thought finger paints would be fun to have on hand.  As if the day was being planned for us we got a wonderfully good rainstorm this afternoon.  We pulled out all the supplies and quickly got to work.  Pickles loves art, too, so she joined in on the fun.

Sadly, it has been a long time since we’ve done any fun little projects around here.  I hate being too busy to do the fun stuff.  I’m glad we went with that wild hair this morning and that Hubby let me have the whole day off from the office.  I enjoyed working on this with the girls!

sixteen things

Sixteen things I love about you…

1. You are not afraid to try new things.

2. You are a fiercely loyal friend.

3. The way you jump around when you are excited, knees pumping up to your chest and your hands flying.

4. Your stubborn streak.

5. Your convictions. (When #4 and #5 to into play together, watch out world!)

6. The way you are growing in your walk with the Lord.  That your faith is becoming your own.  It’s beautiful.

7. Your creativity.  You keep discovering new talents.

8. The way you help and love your sisters.

9. The way you clean your room, making a bigger mess than you started with and ending with perfection.

10. Your toes!

11. You love Jesus and you love going to church.

12. You can laugh at yourself and you don’t take yourself too seriously.

13. The way you have blossomed at school, making friends, getting good grades, trying new things, and are a student the teachers enjoy having in class.

14. Your voice.  The way you say, “Hey, Mom!”  I’ll never get tired of that.

15. The way you dance.  Everywhere.  All the time.  You’re beautiful.

16. I love that God put you in our family to love and enjoy.  I do love you and oh, how I enjoy you!

Love,
Mom

Happy Father’s Day…

These are just a few of my favorite pictures of Hubby with the girls… I’m so thankful for the relationship they have with their daddy!!

Look what I got for Mothers Day

Standard

I got to hold a sleeping baby!!!  Totally made my day.  It ranked right up there with the card SuperGirl made for me at school and she actually signed it “SuperGirl.”  My heart melted.  My sister is working nights… so we got to spend Mothers Day with Buddy and R-Bug.  We gave them extra hugs and loves!!

AND I got to take Buddy home with me.  We did lots of stuff.  We started off by watering the garden and picking some vegetables.  He was especially proud of this “corn vegetable” that we picked.  Don’t worry, by the time we got it all washed off he knew it was a “wewwow squash.”  Smart kid.  He even picked a teeny tiny green tomato but we threw it out.  I hope he makes a trip to my house when the tomatoes are ripe and plentiful.  That will be fun.

After a long, lazy nap with SuperGirl we went and played with J and saw horses, puppies, kitties, and bunnies. He declined a ride on the four wheeler… but he about wore the slide out.  Hubs pitched a game of baseball for Buddy and J before we headed back to the house.

I’ve been hanging on to this towel for a number of years now.  I used to hide it from SuperGirl because she was just getting too big for it.  I’d fold it and put it away telling her that we were saving it for when her Auntie M had a baby and then she’d always ask, “IS AUNTIE M PREGNANT?????”  Then she would find the towel and use it and I’d wash the towel again and put it away, a little higher than the time before.  Buddy thought the unicorn towel was hysterical.  I wonder what his daddy thinks…

Buddy talks up a storm.  I’ve never heard a 2-year-old with his vocabulary and memory for detail… and he’s funny, too.  While he was going to sleep in Summer’s room last night he looked up at the ceiling fan and noticed she had stuff hanging down from it.  He said, “Look! A butterfly and a meatball!”  Summer and I looked and cracked up.  There is a blue butterfly hanging there… and a DISCO BALL!

This morning he was playing with one of the PetShop toys that has a fish in it.  He was telling me that it was SuperGirl’s toy and that there was a fish in it.  And then as serious as could be he asked me, “Is it a tarpon?”  I had to Google tarpon.

When I told him that no, it was not a tarpon, but a goldfish, he corrected me saying, “It’s a PINK goldfish.”  Indeed it was.

It’s a shame my sister loves that boy so much… she’s gonna miss him since I’m keeping him forever.  😉

Happy Mothers Day!  {Two pics today because I don’t have one of all of us… Lunch was a little crazy and while I thought for sure we’d get a picture of all three of us moms and one of me with my kids it just didn’t happen.}  And yes, I gave my Nannie a HUGE jar of gummy bears.  She was thrilled.

Relay for Life

Standard

We got to participate in the Relay for Life this year.  We can thank SuperGirl’s new political/social career and Summer’s new 4H involvement for it.  I’d always heard about it happening in our area but never had a reason to become involved. SuperGirl’s school had a team… they were walking in support of the school receptionist’s husband.  He’s currently battling cancer.  They have spent some time this school year at MDAnderson in Houston.  Summer’s 4H group walked in memory of a fellow 4H member’s dad.  He lost his battle in February.

I think what I appreciated most about this night was the hour they spent lighting the luminaries and remembering those who are currently fighting or who have lost the battle with cancer.  It made me think of those we know personally who have been touched by cancer.  So many names ran through my mind but when we walked the one lap in silence, through the luminaries, it was very sobering just how big cancer is and how many people it hurts.

When we weren’t walking we enjoyed visiting with friends… old friends…

Newer friends…

There were lots of school friends and 4H friends there, too.  Some even entertained us!

It was a great night.  I think maybe we’ll do it again next year!!
